Baby's room: arrange it with healthy materials

Baby's room: arrange it using healthy materials

Your baby is coming soon and you want to prepare his room. To ensure his comfort and safety, it is best to opt for an ecological room. This, without neglecting the aesthetic side, of course! In any case, your baby will need a healthy room that is completely free of toxic products much more than you do. Here are the key elements for a proper layout of your baby's room. Enough to allow you to create a world that is both pleasant and safe!

Say no to chemicals or pollutants

When decorating a baby's room, it is always ideal to opt for healthy products. For example, opt for paints made from natural pigments such as fibers or plants. Linseed oil, lime and clay are also excellent choices. Such paints are just as effective as industrial ones. In addition, they come in countless color ranges, but also in different textures. If, on the other hand, you have a particular penchant for vinyl or wallpaper, know that more and more current brands are offering models perfectly adapted to your little one's room. There is obviously another alternative which is to make your own paint, so do not hesitate to do some research on this subject.

When it comes to choosing a bed, melamine should be avoided and instead opt for models made from wood from sustainably managed forests. Then, choose a natural latex mattress as your bedding. Note that it is smart to always opt for organic materials, even for curtains and bed linen. Avoid piling up objects that can accumulate dust and thus promote allergies as much as possible.

Opt for evolving or second-hand furniture

By thinking about ecology, you contribute to reducing the impact on the environment. There are several solutions for this. Reuse, among other things, the furniture of your baby's older children or find some at flea markets and on second-hand sites online. Of course, nothing prevents you from preferring new, but select modular furniture, so that it can grow at the same time as your little one.

An evolving cradle with a natural latex mattress can thus become a single bed. Which will perfectly accompany your child during the first years of his life. A piece of furniture with a changing table can also quickly transform into a single bed, equipped with a small desk. Such evolving furniture therefore undoubtedly has a low impact on the environment, given that you will have to replace it much less regularly. Enough to allow you to make considerable savings!

Select natural materials for bedding

A solid wood bed, for example, is a model designed from a material that is both noble and respectful of nature. However, the wood must be varnished or painted to ensure its protection. So make sure that it is free of chemical components.

You may not have thought about it at all, but cardboard is an excellent natural material. Which is therefore also ideal for furnishing a baby's room. Light, robust, trendy and economical, this material is much easier to handle than solid wood. Which is an excellent solution if you care about your child's well-being, without requiring a colossal investment. A perfect idea for families who are somewhat eco-friendly!

Furthermore, investing in organic cotton for your little one's linens (including their comforter) is no less interesting. After all, they sleep practically all the time in their first year. And when they wake up, they can sometimes stay in their bed. This option will then prevent them from coming into contact with potentially harmful products. As for the bedding, choose a natural latex mattress. This will reduce the risk of allergies, but also contact with parasites such as dust mites.
