What to do on vacation with children in Hossegor?
In the Landes, there are lots of things to do with your children. Holidays are always a good way to spend time with the family.

1 – Lake Hossegor:
What we prefer to do with our daughters is paddle on the marine lake of Hossegor. Whether the weather is nice and warm or overcast, it is the ideal physical activity. You can rent paddle boards at La pagaye on the beach of the oaks lièges. On this same beach, there is the restaurant " chez loulou " a delicious terrace with your feet in the sand.
You can also walk around the lake . It will take you about 1h30/2h to do the magnificent walk around the lake. The charm of the houses with typical architecture and the splendid nature make this walk a great moment.
2 – The beaches:
The number 1 activity when you have children is the beach. We strongly advise you to go there in the morning between 9am and 12pm. In the morning the beach is calm and there are fewer people. You will be able to meet the large crowd and take a nap in the cool for the youngest children.
Be sure to swim between the lifeguard flags. The ocean may seem calm, but don't be fooled.
My daughters' favourite beach is Estagnots in Seignosse .
3 – Old Boucau Lake
Another lake a little further north, you can also go around it and rent small boats . The edges of the lake are well equipped, you can do it by bike or scooter but also on foot.
There are playgrounds and pétanque courts all around.
4 – Adrenaline park:
This is the region's treetop adventure park . A leisure park located in the heart of nature, more than 25 courses. You will have a good day here especially if your children need to let off steam and are tired of the beach. Accessible from 3 years old.

5 – Black Pond Reserve
This walk has a nice surprise in store , when you arrive you will have to follow a footbridge that goes into the forest. This duckboard path invites you to discover the fauna and flora of this living environment of the black pond. The deep waters and its muddy bottoms gave the name to the black pond.
The marshy forest that surrounds it is really very pleasant in the middle of summer. The atmosphere is mysterious and your children will love walking around and looking for the end of the path.

6 – Orx Marsh:
A nature walk in a vast property of the coastal conservatory. The site is designed to offer nice discovery conditions: observatory, footbridges, interpretation trail , permanent exhibition. Access to the "discovery circuit" is free and open. Children love it and this walk piques their curiosity.
7 – The Vélodyssée:
The Vélodyssée is a 1300 km cycle path along the Atlantic... It goes from Brittany to the Basque Country. In the Landes, there are some pretty cycle paths that we suggest you take without hesitation.
What a great idea to take the time to reach the beach by bike with your children. The tracks are most often on the edge of the forest, the landscapes will all be as beautiful as each other.
8 – The Marquèze ecomuseum:
The Marquèze Ecomuseum was created in 1969 by the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park. It is one of the very first ecomuseums in France. Its mission is to preserve, study and transmit the heritage of the Grande Lande by reconstructing the living environment of its inhabitants in the 19th century. Access is by a small train , children love it!
Ask at the reception and get a map to do a treasure hunt with your children. There are animals on site and you will learn a lot of things.
9 – Hiking in the forest:
This hiking trail is very varied. In Capbreton, the circuit of the tuc of the 9 churches . This walk will make you discover the Boudigau canal, dune and forest landscapes. A great opportunity for children to recognize the surrounding flora: ferns, thickets of strawberry trees, scattered tauzin oaks or cork oaks…
Climb the wooden steps to the top of the Tuc des neuf églises. Finally, at an altitude of 64 metres, enjoy the view and have fun spotting the 9 bell towers or identifying the different beaches and the Marais d'Orx…
10 – Huchet Current:
This nature reserve is an arm of the sea that flows into the sea. Once again the landscape here is magnificent. You can take a boat ride and ask lots of questions to the guide who will be with you.
Take the time to walk around and learn a little more about the nature around you. Children will enjoy this boat ride on the waters.
