3 days in London, in the East End!

Ready to dive into the heart of London's excitement?

Discover the hidden treasures of the East End, between rich history and contemporary creativity. What secrets does the British capital hold in this dynamic and eclectic district?

The authentic charm of London's East End , which revolves around the majestic London Bridge, reveals a vibrant and eclectic side of the British capital. Located in the east of the city, in close proximity to The City and the legendary London Bridge , this London district has undergone a remarkable transformation.

Once a working-class stronghold, the East End is now a vibrant, cosmopolitan city, home to artists, students and young professionals. The cobbled streets tell a rich and diverse story, reflecting the turbulent past of this area that has evolved over time. Today, the contrast between the sleek skyscrapers of the City in the background and the independent arts establishments in the foreground creates a fascinating urban canvas.

The East End is emerging as a cultural hub, where artistic excitement meets the aspirations of young professionals. This captivating mix creates a unique atmosphere, where historical heritage and contemporary avant-garde coexist harmoniously. Whether you wander through its bustling markets, explore its alternative art galleries , or get lost in its picturesque alleyways, the East End promises an authentic and captivating London experience .

Where to sleep in the East End?

Wombat's City Hostel London
7 docks street, London

A great, inexpensive address, really well located, with a pretty incredible basement bar.

Where to eat in the East End of London?

AMBER

Want to enjoy a delicate and tasty cuisine? Here is a restaurant tastefully decorated in a loft style. The ceilings are high, the walls are made of concrete and the wooden furniture is in the best taste. A very large dining room and a pretty marble counter on which are placed beautiful and good things, which immediately whet the appetite.

Delicate and delicious Middle Eastern cuisine.

DINNERAMA

Dinerama , is a food court in the heart of the Shoreditch district ! A lively place, where we like to meet up with friends after a busy week at work. Here you can eat a dim sum or share tacos and have a drink in one of the street food stands .

The advantage is that there is no need to book (free entry until 7pm, then £3). Dinerama closes around midnight, so if you feel like it, you can spend the rest of the evening hitting the many bars in the area. Closed since 2020...

Just a stone's throw away, you can walk to the Queen of Hoxton, a very nice night bar.

THE BREAKFAST CLUB CAFE

A great address as we like :) and especially a bar hidden in a fridge, it's up to you to keep your eyes open... The address is great for Sunday morning brunch, even if the queue is endless on weekends it's worth it. The eggs Benedict and the pancakes are delicious.

POPPIES FISH AND CHIPS

In the area we also find the most famous traditional fish and chips restaurant. The 1950s decor takes us back in time.

SPITALFIELDS MARKET

One of the largest markets in London (especially on Sunday mornings). There are a lot of street vendors here and in the centre of Spitalfields Market there is a food court where you can taste delicious things. We were there in the middle of the afternoon and we tasted Japanese pancakes filled with pastry cream. A delight.

THE best shopping address in the East End of London:

BRICK LANE VINTAGE MARKET

Still in the East End, a large basement filled with vintage clothes. You can also find vinyls and retro accessories there. The London vintage market par excellence. Here you can easily get lost among the clothing stands.

There is a very nice photo booth towards the middle of the market and often on weekends there are exhibitions on the first floor.

For music fans, there is a very large vinyl store, next to Brick Lane Village Market, called Rough Trade East.

SECRET CINEMA Don’t watch a film anymore, live it

But this time if we were on a trip to London with friends it was for the Secret Cinema . The Secret Cinema has been based in London for over 10 years now and offers spectators the closest experience to (re)living the film. To do this, they have a well thought out recipe that works every time . We went there for an immersion in the series Stranger Things ...

The meeting place is kept secret until the last moment, we didn't really know what to expect. By email we receive instructions as we go, on the place, the required dress code etc... All this is super exciting. On the big day, total immersion, the place is crazy and the sets of the film are recreated with the greatest care.

Of course I don't want to say too much, the experience is crazy, go there! I read an article on the secret cinema that started with " Don't watch a film anymore, live it " , it's really the sentence that sums it all up :)
